We were out at my grandfather’s house last night. He lives out in the middle of nowhere on a lake and a river. So Lola is running about with Kenai, a Chesapeake Bay retriever who actually taught her to swim. It was so sweet until I notice that there is blood everywhere coming from my baby. So I finally figure out that it’s a nick in her ear. It wasn't anything major just a little cut, but it was so much blood. So I put some liquid band-aid on it, and then had to cover that with a giant band-aid because when she shakes her head it keeps busting open.

If you can, run her into the vet & have them glue it. The ear is comprised of many thin blood vessles/capillaries that are easily ruptured & everytime your dog shakes her head, they will continue to do so. Since the ear is so hard to bandage & keep bandaged, surgical glue is the next best thing.

Miakoda had good advice! We kept a lot of liquid bandage around for my dane but since he had big floppers they just kept busting opening and blood went everywhere! Even after antibiotic ointment and "head wrapping" they still managed to break open .: ( If its not that serious and her ears aren't too droopy you might be able to get away with a liquid bandage but if it keeps busting open def take to a vet.
