Bill was telling me about how much the houses cost down there... WAAAAY less than what you pay up here, and you get WAAAY more space. I had no idea the cost of living was so much lower in TX than Ohio. I'm going to stay here at least another 4 years to build some equity in my home, but after that, I am seriously considering moving there. LOTS of nursing jobs!

Same here. My gas bill is on a BUDGET, which means I pay $230 every month YEAR ROUND. Last year it was $109 a month, but gas prices went up 30%. So even though I got all new windows and siding, I still saw an increase. But I shouldn't complain. Last year my windows were so old and drafty, I had to keep my thermostat set at 80 to keep warm. Now this past winter I only had to keep it set at 68 and it was toasty. I want to see how much it would cost to get a new furnace and change my heating system over to electric rather than gas. I am half tempted to forget about building equity and just relocate anyway. We'll see.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, Red.

Well I'll tell you what, when I am there, I will have Bill take me around to the area hospitals and check them out. I might even set up some interviews ahead of time. If I can find someone who will pay the kind of money I am making up here (hard to do)... I may consider moving there by next winter. You guys are making it sound so tempting. What's the "best" part of TX to live, that's not too expensive?
