Hi folks,
Two lil comments.
First time owner of a female pit x god knows what., so im not so sure on what to do with her. I did some research on google and know how long it last, but its the cleaning part that im clueless about.
So far we bought her a lil doggie undie and we use non-scented pads that we change 4-5 times a day. for the stinkyness we use Wet-ones(kind alike baby whipes).
Am i in the ball-park with what im doing?

And as for the stinky mouth.. what can i do? it's getting worst, smells like rotten flesh.. her teeth shows no sign of tart or yellowness, ive checked the inside of her cheek to make sure no food stayed.. im desparate enough to go and buy her some Scope to wash her mouth hehehe

first off, if she is a pit/cross getting her fixed solves the menstration stinky issue. plus it makes life easier on all the neibourhood males, stops unwanted puppy accidents ect,ect.
as for the stinky breath.. making sure she has no dental issues is a must. a bad tooth can cause horrible breath. if you can find no tooth issue then look at diet and overall heath. sometimes a diet that doesn't agree with a dog or isn't filling all the nutrient requirements can cause digestive issues that will cause bad breath.
if all else fails, believe it or not, they make doggy breath mints and minty dog cookies

And you can get her spayed during her heat. Save yourself the month of grossness.

Definitely have her teeth looked at, just to be sure, but it could be that going into heat has changed her body chemistry a bit and made her breath stinky. Don't know - just a thought. Kaia had pretty stinky breath while she was pregnant.

Oh i didn't think about that part.
didn't think being in heat could had affect her.. now you that mention it, she did start a couple of weeks ago to smell bad and its bout the time im calculating she started her period.. hmmm.
when you say get her spayed, what do you mean exactly?

You can spay during a heat but it is recommended to wait 2-4 weeks after she finish's her menstruation, it's less of a risk.

She's a MIX! What could you possibly add to the pit bull breed by breeding a mix? You want puppies? Go down to the animal control shelter and rescue some. There are thousands DYING there every day! Listen to your girlfriend. :evil:

Did some1 says breeding :shock: don't breed... lots of pups in the pound which will look just like yours if you want a pup running around again get one from them.

Stop by the pound on your way home.. and bring home LOTS of puppies to fill your apartment! Then please spay your pup!

Hey, just a thought-- (a really gross one). Maybe her mouth is foul because she is cleaning herself of old blood. You can brush her teeth, I'm sure they make doggy toothpaste of some sort. But yes, have a vet check her teeth and mouth for infection. Digestive disorders can cause foul breath too. Hope she's okay, and best of luck to you.

Anyway most bitches do have bad breath when in season due to cleaning them self
and the smell of urine that they clean is also very pungent at this time.

there is no way your gonna stop her cleaning herself but just give her plenty of water
and try to get her to drnk after she has cleaned herself.
it will all go once season has stopped.
if you fancy breeding then go ahead as long as you have homes waiting there is no
better thing than to see some nice new puppies
