Logan is a very submissive dog. I make him sit for meals, sit before I release him to go outside, he gives up the belly all the time, shares his toys, etc.

But, when he has to go outside to pee, he gets crazy. I take him to the door, make him sit, open the door, then finally give him the command to go outside. But, sometime, as he bolts out the door, he will "mouth" my hand. What does this mean, and how do I make him stop? It's not hard, but it just doesn't seen right either.

Thanks.

Could it be he is looking for you to give him a treat?
I was going to ask that too...Sometimes when Scarlet is expecting a treat and I don't have it she will grab my hand with her paws and try to push it over to look...she doesn't nip me though. Its just she is used to getting it for that command and if its not there she is going to figure out why!

You shouldn't give your dog a treat everytime he/she listens to a command. You have to mix it up, or they will expect a treat for everything. I would just say no bite, in a very firm voice. Sometimes after giving my dog a command she will jump and play nip at my hand. I just say no bite very sternly and she listens. It doesn't happen overnight, but it will happen.

Hummmm, some times if my dog wants me to play with him, or pet him he will kinda grab my hand with his mouth. It does not hurt or anything, he is very easy, but just wants to play. Does he only do it when he is going out??

Yeah, he only does it when he is going outside.

I also started correcting him about his behavior when he wants to go outside. As many of you know, we have 3 ABs that hate each other, so we play musical puppies every 2 hours, everyday. Lately, Logan has been wanting to go outside a lot, so he will bark at me and jump around, acting like he had to pee. So yesterday, I scolded him, and put him in a down to make him understand that he goes out when I tell him, not when he wants to. Seemed to work pretty good, and he was waaaay more calm when I did let him out on my terms and not his.

Thanks,

Scott
