most durable toys

I know people have cautioned about cheap sqeaky toys and not to give rawhides because of choking but what toys tend to work best for an OEB that prob. will shred most anything on the market within 6 months. I am going to go with a kong toy because i've heard good things on here about them but I need advice on chew toys that I can put in his crate at night to make him "want" to spend the night in there. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Kong, and I have one of those toys that is a little tire with a rope through it, that one is really good too. As for chewys I always go with beef tendons :D

Oh yeah, put peanut butter, or frozen yogurt inside the kong at night
thanks a lot that is a really good idea!
6 months??? I consider myself lucky if a toy lasts a week! :) Cleaned out marrow bones stuffed with peanut butter make my dogs enjoy their crates. I stuff their Kongs with goodies, too, but marrow bones are much easier to clean out (and are really cheap to replace, too.) Unless it's stuffed with something edible, my dogs don't play with their toys in their crates. Bully sticks are nice - and completely digestible - but they only last about 15-20 minutes with my dogs.
Black kong! i've had this Kong for 5 years. we got it for Honey when she was a puppy. it has some teeth marks around the hole but it's wholey intact. We've handed this kong down to Luchi. We fill it with dog treats and peanut butter and leave it with him when we go to work. he loves it.
I also give Honey knuckle bones, pig ears, cow hooves. they all last her about a day.

Another durable chew toy i've heard of is the Galileo from Nylabone. i'm thinking about getting one for Luchi. but it's kind of expensive.

Always look for toys that are solid rubber. no latex, thin plastic, or stuffed plush toys. they'll just rip them to shreds.
My dogs still have not torn up their new CUZZ toy. I got it at Petsmart. Here is a pic of it.

i've seen those!

and Faith looks a lot like my neighbor's dog, Sasha. Her tongue has purple spots, so they said that she was a chow mix? but we're not really sure...
Mason has two kon's..he nevr is that interested in them..hmm ive stuck treats inside one of them maybe ill try freezing yougurt in it overnight...
Kongs and I have a few nyla toys as well.I have the nyla teething ring which has three big nyla teething keys plus the ring and the nyla ball which has nubs all over it which Buster loves especially when he was getting his teeth and now that he is loosing those evil puppy teeth, none of these have been destroyed and I have had them for months now.

Hey - I am from Tallahassee and I have a dog named Sasha and she is a chow mix and she has purple spots on her tongue. Are you my neighbor?
CC loves her ropes, and her black kong, she also has a jolly ball.
thanks a lot for your very helpful advice!
We have the black kongs. Get a size that looks a little too big or else they can probably shred it. Also, I've heard orca toys are good.

Also, these are pretty pricey but my dogs are addicted to them. I get the extra thick 12" bully sticks on this website. It is very dificult to find them this thick in any store. I can get them at one store in my area but they are $7 each. On this site, you have to order at least 4o, but to me it's worth it because I can get them for $2.15 each. It takes a couple of hours to chew through these and usually I'll take it away after about an hour so that they can chew it the next day and get a little more mileage out of it. These sticks have saved my sanity on more than one ocasion!!!!

I use the Durable Nylabone, and the Galielo. I also use the Black Kong. It goes through a beating fairly quickly, but overallit is holding up well. I bought a Nylabone Rhino once for my old Rottie and it made it through a year with her, and 3.5 years so far with Chaucer. It is listed at the bottom of this page: http://www.pet-shop.net/html/chewers.html . Those all seem to do the trick for me and the dogs love them.
Hey all,

After reading this thread, I went out and bought a Kong for Snoop, but all they had were the King size Black and then small-xtra large red ones, so I got an extra large red... Should I have waited and gotten a Black one? Snoop will be 6 months on June 1. and his mouth fits the xtra large red one perfectly so should I keep it or exchange? Sorry for mildly changing the subject, nsaskey-- but thanks in advance for any feedback people!

It's always a good idea to size up with the Kongs, and I would go with the black one, especially for a bully dog,

No problem and thank you. Snoop and Daisy remind me of eachother with the color and markings (and looks). I think Daisy has just a little more white on her feet though.
Well Moose goes thru toys like water. I bought the tire with a rope thru it and it is pretty strong. He has it for 6 weeks so far and he is now getting thru the tire. This toy has lasted him the longest. See the picture of the toy below in my banner

that would be awesome! but no, i'm afraid not. my neighbor's Sasha is by herself. they dont have any other dogs...yet. and she's brindle. our dogs play well together though. and we spoil Sasha too.
