I got her in a little bit early today since I forgot I had a lecture to attend later.

They did a skin scraping... she said they saw something "suspicious" that looked like it might be a fragment of demodex, but they couldn't be sure, so they will repeat the test in 2 weeks. She said they saw a lot of white blood cells and bacteria, so she does have a skin infection. They started her on Cephalexin, and I am to continue with the medicated shampoo. She was a real trouper throughout, except when they did the deep skin scrape where they had to cut her.. she growled. I hope that's normal because it kind of startled me to hear her growl at someone. I suppose it's acceptable when the person is cutting her with a scalpel...(?)

Anyway, she is doing fine...just lots of boo-boos and itchies. Hopefully this antibiotic works!!

When they did Mags' skin scraping she actually bled but never growled. I hope they can figure out what it is so that poor baby isnt so miserable.

Yeah she had 4 scrapings total... 2 superficial, and 2 deep. The first deep one she didn't make a peep... but the second one they really had to dig into her hind leg and I think she was getting tired of being poked and prodded at that point. She also received her vaccines. Poor girl.

poor nala :( what a rough start to her life. But at least you have been through this already with Koa so you know you can make it. I really hope the antibiotics work and it is no more then just an infection

Koa never itched though, lucky for him. He just had sores with bald patches! Poor Nala is absolutely miserable. She looked so pitiful at the office, taking her paw and rubbing her face, trying to scratch her eyes. I gave her a bath beforehand, I'm wondering if she got soap in her eyes because she's never done that before.

Poor girl! Hope the antibiotics give her some relief! considering her condition and what she's going through I'd say she deserves a pardon for getting a little upset at the scraping! :(

I hope the antibiotics and shampoo work, and that Nala is back to her normal self soon.

I think most dogs do alright with cephalexin, but Bogart gets really bad diarrhea from it so he has to be on a different antibiotic. You may just want to observe her poopies for a few days.

Poor Nala has been through a lot. Hope you and the vet can find out whats up with her and get her back to normal. Even tho she is all scabby I would like to see more pictures of her and how big she has gotten.
