I would try the thumb thing (holding his tongue down while you tell him NO BITE) or if that doesn't work, get you some Bitter Apple spray from Pet Smart. It's a spray made to deter them from biting. Its sour and they HATE it. And you can spray it on your hand, furniture, shoes.... anything that he wants to chew on. It won't take long and all you'll have to do is grab the bottle and he'll run the other way!
