I feel you pain! When my dog had emergency surgery and had to stay, i was a wreck!!! Don't worry too much about the neutering tho. If you don't mind me asking, why are they keeping him for 2 nights? i have heard of 1 night, but 2 seems a bit much. I was lucky and got to take mine home that evening.
I think you're getting ripped off. My dog came home in a couple hours after getting neutered, and never once seemed to notice his testicles were missing. He didn't even require pain medicine. Just never missed a beat. I was worried sick beforehand too. I think *I* needed a sedative! I hope they're not charging you for an overnight stay... that's crazy.
i have my old guy in the bed every night and would feel the exact same way. i am sure he will be missin you too .
No one's gonna make fun of you! I can't sleep without Haus snoring in one ear and Dennis in the other.
I would miss my guys, too, if they were gone overnight.

But, I agree with Lovabull - two night stay??? My guys are in and out - same day.
Taking Bub in on the 12th. Drop him @ 8:30 a.m. and picking him up @ 4 p.m. the same day. Vet says there is no reason to keep him overnight
Yeah, you should talk to your vet, Dozer was allowed out the same day as well. That way you won't need to sleep with out him.

I so agree. They should be able to come in home after a few hours
I just got Lucy spayed a few weeks ago. The surgery was done in the morning and I picked her up that afternoon. A male should even be easier.
All of my animals stayed over night but when I worked there I had the choice to take them home the same day or wait till the following day since I knew what to look out for if any complications were to come up.My vet keeps them over to make sure they dont run a fever and to keep an eye on the incision over night then come morning they check the temp and the area and if all is good then home they go.They are a 24 hour vet so someone is always there checking on them which is what I like.I have to agree though two night is something I haven't heard before or are you dropping off early cause of work or what not? Anyway dont worry I am sure all will go well.
Mine where in and out too for their neuter. The few hours they are their was enough worry for me. I was glad to get them home again

First off thanks for the concern everybody :D

He is staying tonight because i leave for work at 6 in the morning and cant bring the dog in tomorow morning, then in the morning they are doing the surgery and staying the night so they can check up on him for the night and all. I asked them to call me tomorow after the surgery, well they offered and i said yeah, but anyway so i will ask if i can pick him up after work. Also they are not charging me for tonight. How does 220 sound for the whole thing, including blood-work?

Oh yeah i know, i bet he will be missing me more than i am missing him, and thats saying something. As everyone knows in here, bully owners are loved more than any people in the world!
What kind of blood work are you doing, what for? Sorry if I missed that.

Dozer got Neutered for under $100
I had blood work done too before surgery its better safe than sorry they check any kind of infections, CBC make sure the levels are all fine with the kidneys and liver etc. A good vet will check all this stuff before putting them under the knife or at least inform you and give you the option to have it done.
Like Halo said all of mine had blood work prier to surgery to make sure everything was fine.Buster will be going in July or August to be fixed and the neuter alone will be $120 plus the blood work I think runs $45 $50 plus I am having him chipped at that time as well so my bill will be looking like your bill.........lol
I don't know.. I have a sort of "pet insurance" type of plan, so my dogs' spay/neuter were all covered by that...(I pay $20 per dog per month.) 2 nights away from you... poor lil guy. Are you sure you can't just take him home the same day? Will they actually have someone there ALL NIGHT to watch him? Most places don't. How old is he? My dog was neutered at 4 mos, and he was up running around after the surgery. I was worried sick (you can look up my old threads, you'd think I was the one having surgery!).. but he was a real trouper. I was very surprised.

Good luck with your pup. Give him a hug for us when he gets home!! I'm sure he'll do fine.
his nueter is 165 (for medium sized dog), and the blood work is 55. I dont think the vet is ripping me off since she was very good with the prior visits. I also dont know if he will be there all night, but they will be there all wednesday which i will be at work so it might be a good idea for him to stay the night, thanks everyone i will definately give him a hug for yall, i know he will be askin for one.
For those of you who had their dog nuetered, and i only mean boys, how much did it change the dog's energy levels if at all?
