Willy is usually very good in his crate and does not pee in his crate but he has learned that he can lift his leg and pee out of the crate.... So beside getting a new one with solid sides and puting something like sheet metal or plexiglass on the sides. I am open to all sugestions to have him stop. This is new and does not seem to be associated with his time in the crate. He does have a couple favortie toys in there and always goes in more than willingly. I removed the bedding and that didn't seem to work since he is "shooting" out of the crate

Well you have to give him credit, he is one smart boy!!! Maybe put a thick blanket over the top so if he does it, it is absorb by the blanket. Not only will it be absorbed but I am sure that he won't like being surrounded by pee and that could get him to stop. Plus it is easy clean up for you. That is my best guess, clever little guy

There was a pug at my old job that would do that. He would hike that leg right up and pee outside of the crate. When he was retired from the show ring and neutered he stopped.

I would say definitely do solid sides so that he learns that anytime he pees, even if he thinks it's outside, he'll still get stuck sitting in it. I'm sure if he's never had problems before then he doesn't like to sit in it, so he should stop quickly.

Or you can use a belly band. My Greyhound is a mad marking machine and wears a bellyband whenever he isn't being fully supervised. With it on when they lift their leg it just makes THEM wet. Most dogs will try a couple of times and then realize that whenever the bad boy belly band is on it's not fun to lift your leg.

Good luck with it!!
