What do I do? my 9 week old Staffy hates his collar and keeps scratching at it.... will he get over it soon?
Also, he keeps biting and scratching the top of his legs... there aren't any fleas... is this normal?
Shall we see a vet about some possible irritation??

As for the collar, Deuce still doesn't like it and he is 4 months. He will tolerate it now, but he scratches at it a lot. As for the other, I would take him to the vet to be safe. I noticed Deuce scratching and he started getting bald spots and he had mange. He is currently on meds to fix it. I wouldn't take any chances, better safe than sorry.

You will find that most pups go through this, with the collar that is.Buster hated his collar and would sit and scratch I think in hopes of scratching it off but after awhile he gave up and no longer does it. As for the biting of the legs I also agree to have it checked out just to be on the safe side of things.

Tala hated (probably still hates) her collar too. It makes her neck itch, and she used to try to bite the dangling tag. She grew out of biting at her tag and got used to the collar being there, but it still itches her neck. I've found that the softer collars, like nylon or suede, are more comfortable for Tala and don't itch her neck near as much as a leather collar.

Tia hated her first collar aswell, she used to sit and scratch it over and over again while giving me a look as if to say 'will you take this damn thing off me!' I'm sure your puppy will get used to his collar in time. I agree with everyone else about the irriation to his legs, get your vet to check him out.
