Has anyone ever ate oxtail before?

Well my friend had it last night and I guess there are bones in it. About the size of quarters at the biggest. Well when he left I told him just to leave the plate on the table.

When I went to bed I forgot to clean it up and Kate at it all. Do you think those bones are small enough to pass or should I give her hydrogen?

I feel like the worst person in the world. This is 100% my fault

I think....not sure....but I think dogs can digest bones. As long as she got it down it should be alright.

Here I found this:

Wild carnivores have always consumed the raw bones of their prey. Their teeth are adapted for this function, and their short, acidic digestive track quickly dissolves and digests these bones, which are packed with essential nutrients. Our domesticated companions have teeth and digestive systems that are nearly identical to their wild counterparts. While it is possible for dogs, or humans, to choke on whatever they are eating or drinking, consuming a fresh, raw diet should not increase the risk of choking in dogs or cats. Cooking bones makes them brittle and prone to splintering, as well as more difficult to digest.

your dog will be fine.
infact thats a good way to get some bone in her.
i feed raw bones to my dogs all the time.
dogs do digest bones to a point.

remember years ago when you used to see white dog poo :?:
well that was because dogs used to be fed bones a lot more than now.
the white stuff is consumed bones with calcium in the poo.
absolutely nothing to worry about at all.

its while chewing cooked bones that the problems normally arise.

our dogs have whats called kickable poos due to feeding a few bones as well as raw food

I do not think the body will break them down. Ox tail bones are round little disk bones.
I would definately give her some oil to help them slide through. She could have a problem
passing them whole, it just depends which way they are laying at the time of the passage.
She may strain and/or she could bleed some. You do want to keep a watch on her. The
good thing is that muscle stretches quite a bit. I have seen stuff I never thought could
get thrugh, get through. But do give her some oil to help her.

Get some cat laxative and give it to her, maybe with some bread.

so when I have some time to be with her for a while I should give her some cat laxative with some bread and then just hang outside for a while and that should soften things down and hopefully help it pass?

There is alot of spongy bone in vertebrae so it should break down more that say, pieces of a femur. Keep an eye on her though. The fact she pooped some is a good sign.

It doesn't sound like a blockage if she is pooping ok. It's possible to have a partial blockage and still poop but it's usually bad diahrrea. I have a feeling the bone will digest. I've never fed cooked bone [-X But raw bones of that size don't usually cause any problems. Chico pooped out a piece of bully stick that was about 2 1/2 " long and about 1 1/2" in diameter! He had no problems at all. I couldn't believe it! Kate sure is a trouble maker! I think her and Heidi may be related!

maybe they are related way back! lol This was totally my fault cause I left it right on the table when I went to bed. But yes, these are very thick, if they were thin and big in diameter I wouldnt be so worried but they are thick.

the pooping part.... that isnt going so well. This morning and tonight her poop was about half the amount and soft and she hasnt pooped out any more bones
