My goal is to find meat for less than .50 a pound, right now I am paying about .61 a pound.

I'd love to get that low but I think I would need to develop a relationship with suppliers to negotiate better prices. Since we are moving soon I am just getting what I can :) I'll check out that site though. Merci!

We got pretty lucky, in my first search we got all the meat free (almost 30lbs)... if we were around longer the woman said she would keep supplying for us every 4 months when she had more but... we're moving :(
Are people like unable to see my posts or something? It happens like everyday. I say something. Then someone says the EXACT same thing I said and the person is like "oh thanks so much!". Lol. I feel like im invisible.

That sucks. I finally found a source here that is SUPER cheap. I have to drive about an hour away to Madison to pick it up, but its totally worth it. They have Bison knuckle bones for like 2.69 a piece. I'm paying way more than that for crappy beef knuckles here. I know there is a Yahoo group you can join and exchange info on unpublished sources, so you may want to try that. Store meat is way overpriced.
Anyone seen Steph? I haven't heard from her in forever.

Just kidding Steph. We see you.
Lol. Just making sure.

The same thing happened on the Dog Park thread awhile ago. I said something. No one cared. People disagreed, blah blah blah. And then Lisa jumped on and said the EXACT SAME THING and people were like "oh, yea great point that makes so much sense now, thanks!". Granted you and Lisa are much more experienced then I, but still. Whatevs :)
Haha I didn't notice it because the group name wasn't listed. A lot of times if I am on my iPhone I don't look stuff up but when I replied there I was already on yahoo :)... And lazy me only had to copy and paste. No search necessary!
Hudson is starting to get pretty nice and muscular on his raw diet, and is shedding less. WOOOO! There wasn't much on the carnivore in my area. I did find one supplier who ships to about an hour from where I live. The prices aren't the best but I think we will just buy some from there and the rest will be the .40c/lb chick legs at the grocery store for now. We've been too busy lately for me to go ultimate bargain hunting.

Thanks for the report, Tina! I just started raw today for my ab. I started him on turkey. I just brought a 30# case of turkey neck for 13.50  I'll post pics soon. Before and after.
Anyone else have this problem... Not sure if it's the chicken or the dog. Hudson chews his chicken well, using his back teeth. It breaks into a few pieces from him chewing, then he chews some more and then swallows. I notice a lot though when be poops there are still pieces of bone, and sometimes they look splintered and sharp. It's human grade chicken. I am getting annoyed with the raw diet. Finding food at the right price has been a challenge (the providers on yahoo are all very expensive in this area)... I still haven't decided which I prefer.
I have no problems with bones and Bones. If he gets too much he yaks it out. I have never actually seen bones in his poop.
I never notice chicken bones in the stool but I often find 1" or smaller bones from beef ribs.

I feed chicken quarters ( ,39 cents a pound Walmart) and they really only crush the quarter to make it easier to swallow they dont really chew them.

I agree..and I don't shop @ Walmart but 2-3 times a year so I do pay a bit more. I switch it up with venison/elk/antelope I get for free throughout the year. Otherwise he gets chicken and beef meaty rib bones for snacks. I have started boning out the leg bone of the quarters because it was too much bone and he would wake me up in the night yakking it out. Since I have started that he no longer does it.
I get the same chicken quarters, but they have them at the Commissary instead to not pay tax. He has had ribs but last time was a few days ago... Could they have taken days to come out? It looked like chicken to me. I'll keep a closer eye on the pork next time. If that's it I'll cut the bone out cause it did not look comfortable.

On the quarters he chews the end of the leg off, the bites the middle in half as swallows them crushed up. I love buying chicken hearts to feed him cause it looks like he is snacking on popcorn or something haha.
Tina, are you feeding leg quarters or are you feeding chicken's back? Chicken backs are scary, once, Dude ate half of it and left it to go chase squirrels, I checked it and there are tons of sharp bones. Okay, not okay? The bones on a leg quarter should be fine, since they are cushion with meat. Have you try turkey neck?
Leg quarters. He has had turkey neck before too. I haven't seen bone in his stool since so it may have been pork sitting in his stomach for a few days or something. Ew.
Tina, do you know, there are some thrift store that give out free meat.
I did not. Only salvation army I know gives out clothes I donated haha. We live in a small area. I have gotten freemeat through CL postings though.
So it IS the chicken. He has been pooping out more bones, some are fairly thick and sharp. I think I am going to kick the raw diet. Maybe once we move and have settled and I get a good job there I will do the barf diet but right now I am not happy enough with raw, I don't want to think about how those bones can hurt him on the inside. The only benefit is smaller poop so far. I have noticed the other changes to be minimal. So with that I am only going to supplement his diet like I used to. If you can give me good advice not to I am open to it. I don't like what's in commercial dog food but I can afford prepared raw with good bones and ect. Sad. I was really hoping this would wok. Maybe we'll have better luck another time.
