RE: Lost nail

My EB lost his whole entire nail one day and we have no idea how. My Boyfriend left him in the truck for maybe 2 minutes and when he came back out he saw blood on the seat. We though maybe he got at his stitches from being neutered, but no, he lost his nail! and the weirdest thing is he was just sitting there calm as a cucumber like nothing happened. Anyone have this happen to them before?

Yep - happened to my lab. She bled like a stuck pig! It's pretty common - they get it hung up on something and just pull, and it breaks off too high.

I never heard about it happening with the actual nails..

Not the dew claw. It's just one of his middle nails....
and it didnt even bleed that much.

Daisy ripped her nail out when she was a puppy. She got it snagged in a blanket and it ripped completely out. I took her to the vet because I didn't want it to become infected. Now at 9 months old it has grown back.

So Lincoln just lost a nail AGAIN!!! IS there something that is causing this or somehow I can prevent it... he doesnt seem to be in pain but it bleeds and... well.. he has no nail!!! UGH HELP
