Well my fear was realized with getting the Lyme vaccine . I had posted a thread earlier about how my vet basically gave Loki his Lyme vaccine without even asking our permission . Well he did fine with that first shot so Thursday he got his second booster shot along with his rabies vaccine . Well Last night around 6pm , we noticed he suddenly seemed very tired and took about a 2 hr nap . We thought it was just because it was a busy weekend , but then when we took him outside to go to the bathroom he fell walking outside and had trouble getting up .

As the evening progressed he got worse until 2 am this morning I had to carry him outside and my wife held up his back legs and I held his chest so he could urinate . Took him to the Vet this morning as soon as they opened and after numerous tests all she could conclude was that he has the symptoms of Lyme's disease from the vaccine so she is going to put him on doxycycline and pain medication . She said he should be fine by wednsday , but it scared the heck out of me and I hope he won't have any long term effects from this .

Anyone else have any similar episodes with reactions to vaccinations ?

He still isn't doing very well , the vet put him on Dermaxx for pain and doxycycline to treat the " symptoms of Lymes " . Just called my wife and he is still just lying around and she has to help him stand to go to the bathroom . Vet wasn't sure what else to do so its frustrating .

I WOULD GO TO ANOTHER VET! Why does your vet not know what to do? This makes no sense to me. Your vet vaccinated for Lyme's desiese and doesn't know what to do about the symptoms? This doesn't sound like someone I would continue to use.

Well she said supportive care with pain medication and if not better to bring him back . I am not sure what else she could do , she put him on antibiotics and pain medication . I know there isn't anyway to reverse the process , I will see how he is feeling in the morning and talk to another vet at that time .

I probably will , but I have been researching this to no end and haven't found anything else to look into . I am just not sure how much time to give , it just started last evening so its only been 24 hours . He is eating and drinking ok , so as long as he is doing that I will give it another 12 or 24 hrs before I jump the gun .
