It seems like Ana doesn't like to go pee outside when it's dark. Is that possible? Even if I turn the outside light on (which is quite bright), she's still really hesitant to go. She'll go if I go out with her, but she'll run right back in after a few minutes. It's making house breaking a little more difficult.

I assume just taking her out every night will help her get used to it, but I'm just curious if anyone elses dogs have done this.

Edit: I should mention she's 9 weeks old and she's not scared at all during the day.

Puppies in general are often timid at that age. They haven't been exposed to much, and are cautious about new things. I think the best thing to do is get them used to going outside at night at a young age. Make it fun for them. If you have to, coax her out with treats and praise her for coming out. Lots of dogs grow out of that when they get older, but many won't if they're not acclimated to it at a young age.

Tala used to throw little fits when I'd put her out at night to do her business, too. She's such a food hound, it was easy getting her outside with a little snack. Now she likes to stay out well into the night and hunt little bugs that gather on the patio.
