THE FLU

1929 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  dltdance
My wife has a pretty severe type of Flu. My question is, can dogs get the flu from us? I've noticed my boy Rocky throwing up entirely too much, something is obviously wrong, I'm just wondering if this could be a possibility.
He also seems to be constipated, he stays in the squated position for quite a while.

He's been throwing up about as long as my wife has had the flu now.

Thanks
Robb

I don't know if they can or not but I think they can. Our old dog used to always get sick right after someone in the house would have the flu or a cold.

If he is throwing up that much I would take him to the vet just to make sure it is nothing to serious
I would get him to a vet asap if he is throwing up and acting like he is constipated he could have a bowel obstruction..... something he might have eaten might be stuck in his tummy.... but I have not heard of dogs getting sick from humans.... I have 2 kids and 2 dogs and neither are sick at the same time

I couldnt agree more and from what you saying that is what it sounds like.I wouldnt wait to get over to the vet.

And from what I am told,NO they can not catch what humans have. They have there own type of colds and what not. That is just what my vet had told me at one time.
I didn't know if it was true or not. It could have very well been a fluke thing with our other dog. Haven't had the new one long enough. I would definetly get him to a vet though.
