[Fury]

I run in the mornings, taking Fury out with me and it's great for a minute or two where she'll fall right along side me and then she crosses in from of me and we stumble. I can tell she enjoys it because she absolutely loves running around but is she too young to try and learn how to run along side of me? She's ten weeks old - should I just wait till she's older? Or a special technique to leash handling ... if I give her too much slack on her lead then she tends to drift off or run behind me and pop up on the other side of me which wraps the leash around me.. not a pretty picture there - I have the scrapes to prove it. And currently taking a break because I rolled my ankle on one of these runs with her....



I would appreciate any suggestions or thoughts... Thanks.

I would wait until she is a little older. Make sure she gets walking on a leash down first. Then start taking her on smaller runs, gradually increasing the run.

i don't know if anyone agrees but i really think she's much too young...... i wouldn't even take a puppy for long walks, nevermind a run untill they were 6/7 months.....

I agree as well.You shouldn't do that much activity with a young pup.You are supposed to wait till at least 6 months.

I, too, agree. Even older AB's tire quickly for the most part. They take off running fast, but only last about 30 minutes, then you have to practically drag them home. If you are a long distance runner, you really do need to build up his stamina, but wait until he's ~6 months old. Right now, he should be concentrating on learning to walk on the leash and always on your left side.

Not a long distance runner but I just enjoy taking her out with me but I'll definitely wait till she's older. Lately she just seems to be bouncing off the walls with pent-up energy... she has galores of toys, a yard to run around and she's still revved up so only thought that a short run would help although we never get too far.

I was wondering too, but it seems Boomer still has the puppy run. Hes also not fully matured I think, the puppy run, and still pees in a squat. Hes fast though, sometimes while hes in the lake swimming, ill start running home and ill yell "BOOMER!" and he'll notice im leaving and he has to swim out on the bank and still catches up to me, I didnt know they are so fast for being so strong/heavy. Anyhow hes 1 year 1 month.... anyone know how long til hes full grown, running normal and peeing with a leg up?

i agree. the vet says it's really bad for their joints until they are fully developed around 6 months.
