You make a good point. TSC is the only place to buy it around here and they have it for five bucks off a bag next week. Sure that some rainchecks are on tap. Off topic but what flavor is your biggest seller? Our dog strongly prefers the wetlands.
Wetlands is by far my biggest TOTW seller. Orijen and Acana are my biggest sellers over all, my sales are about $30,000 per month with them. I'm telling my staff not to lean towards their products when other foods aren't available as I don't want to put all of my eggs in one basket ;)

We feed this to both of our dogs and they are both doing well, even the rescue Heeler that needed a "Special Food"
As Paul mentioned though, I guess there is a recall on it. I'll be watching this too!
As far as I know it's only it's more of a concern with human handlers, a healthy pet should be fine. Here is the FDA codes and dates:
Diamond Pet Foods Expands Voluntary Recall of One Production Run of Dry Dog Food Due to a Potential Health Risk Recall is limited to one formula of Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover?s Soul distributed to 10 states

Wow. We feed our dogs Natural's Lamb and Rice formula. We are actually going to run out of dog food tomorrow and will need more for Monday! I hope we can find it, but it doesn't mention the great state of Nebraska as being one of the states involved.
Thanks for the heads up!
As far as I know we aren't affected in Canada but I haven't been receiving products, I'm told all should be back to normal next week.

Yeah, it would be interesting to know the differences between a
southern customer in Florida and a northern customer in Canada.
Must be a lot of differences between the two areas.

There definitely is in pizza :laughing6:[/QUOTE My customers seem to be more interested in the fish diet for coat? Gazor I think the only difference would be the temperature and the culture. Now that I think of it it would be interesting to put the two in the same room :)

Who are the family owned and operated companies? Thanks
Wellness is also getting ready to open a plant....also, probably wishing it was open sooner.

I agree; the family owned / independent pet food companies have a much better track record of few to none recalls...Fromm, Acana, Orijen, etc.
I will get a list together and post it, many of these companies are very happy right now. I will also get a list of companies that have never had recalls.

All though I think raw is the best diet, many people are not comfortable feeding it. I empty my Natures Variety freezer every week so I'm going to purchase a larger one and I'm bringing in another local raw company. I stress to my customer to always clean the dog's bowl after a meal especially if they have toddlers. Our health board would like to phase it out but I'm sure there would be some very unhappy people. Even though the pre-made diets can be pricey, it makes it much easier for the pet owner and gives a dog/cat a properly balanced diet for those people that don't take the effort to educate themselves. To get back on topic, I hope this recall is over soon ;)

merrick is a little pricier but its a family company and they make grain free. i feed the wilderness blend and mine do well on it.
when i fed canidae years ago they were a great company, nice small family owned.. why they went all big and commercial is beyond me, they used to be so good..
I'm glad they decided to open a factory, the timing was bad bad for them but I still think they make great kibble diets. I hate when companies go "big" too but you can't blame them for wanting to turn a large profit.

I can't beat getting TOTW for $39.99 even if there are recalls. The Earthborn would be nice but it's more expensive and with 3 dogs it gets to be too costly. Until I get my deep freezer I will supplement with raw then switch to full raw when I get it.
It's kind of funny but most customers didn't take it very seriously because it was dangerous to humans and not their pets :D
