I found that Earthborne Holistic (made in Indiana, so I'm not sure of how far it reaches retail speaking) & NutriSource grain free are both in the price range of TOTW. Anyone have experience with either of these?! Thankfully NEITHER are made by Diamond. There honestly aren't many options for grain free in that price range....TOTW has been priced much lower than other grain free foods.
Acana Wild Prairie might be one of the closest in price range, but it is mainly a poultry formula. It is made by the same company as Orijen and has a great reputation. Other grain free options will def be more expensive than TOTW
Who are the family owned and operated companies? ThanksThe plot thickens :Salmonella linked to dog food, sickens at least 14 people
Canidae is in the process of opening a plant, I bet they wish it was ready sooner. I believe this recall is going to be a huge one. The lesson here is to support the familly owned and operated food companies.

I will get a list together and post it, many of these companies are very happy right now. I will also get a list of companies that have never had recalls.Wellness is also getting ready to open a plant....also, probably wishing it was open sooner.
I agree; the family owned / independent pet food companies have a much better track record of few to none recalls...Fromm, Acana, Orijen, etc.
Or........ Know what I'm going to say?The plot thickens :Salmonella linked to dog food, sickens at least 14 people

Well, to be perfectly honest, don't you prepare all sorts of raw meat for your family for dinner every day right there on the kitchen counter? Chicken and steak and what have you? Just spray some 409 down and wipe up after you're done. Outbreak contained. Those considering raw would have to have very good sanitation habits or it seems like they could have problems, correct?
Yea... I'm not as diligent as I could be. I disinfect countertops and wash my hands in between cutting and serving and what not. We don't prepare our food next to theirs. The basic stuff. Those considering raw would have to have very good sanitation habits or it seems like they could have problems, correct?
We feed Fromm, and have been for 3 years, my puggle does very well on the 4 star nutritional line. She has a soft, shiny coat and she never has problems with allergies, has good stools etc. My AB eats Fromm large breed puppy, I was in the process of switching him to Orijen when he decided to eat his dog bed and give himself a stomach obstruction requiring surgery so switching was put on hold. I will try again soon. He doesn't do as well on Fromm. He has random loose stools, and ear infection that won't go away, and some indications of skin allergies/redness. I am really anxious to try him on grain free and see if that helps him out. Anyway, I'd recommend Fromm to anyone looking to switch, doesn't seem to be working out for Eli but overall I think it's a great food.Wellness is also getting ready to open a plant....also, probably wishing it was open sooner.
