Urination after spaying

Bella was just spayed on Friday, she's 6 1/2 months old and she's eating, active, happy and wants to play (esp. outside :( ). The only thing is, she's peeing a lot...a real lot. I called the vet and a tech. told me that it's not necessarily normal, but nothing to panic about. She said if after the weekend she was still urinating that much, to bring her in. It makes sense that because it was an abdominal surgery the whole nether-regions should be a little out of whack, but I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this. Now I am jthinking about changing her name from Isabella to Tinklebella.

Might just be a UTI.

It is fairly common. Everything's kinda screwey in there for a little while. Give her until Monday, and if she hasn't regained a little control, have the vet take a look at her.

If at all possible, you could try to catch a urine sample and just take that it to them. That would save you the exam fee, and the pup the urine extraction if she won't pee for them.

Lola was spayed on Thursday and had to urinate a lot, she was also drinking a lot more then normal. I talked to the vet and she said it was normal for dogs to be dehydrated after surgury. I don't know if thats anything like what you guys are dealing with, but I hope it helps.

Bella drank a lot as well, I am sure they both were thirsty. Bella has really slowed down on the number of times she pees, which I am grateful for. I think she's going to be just fine.
