My Rednosed Pit is scheduled to be neutered tommorrow morning. He is 61/2 months old and weighs about 65 lbs. He is an absolute freak. He commands a 5 mile run/walk everyday. He eats about 20lbs of dog food every ten days and this does not include the extras. I am worried that he will gain weight even more rapidly after the surgery. He is so lovable right now and loyal. He listens well and it just doesn't have it in him to be mean. Will having this procedure effect his nice demeanor as well as his weight? Thanks so much for your insight in advance.

The neuter won't effect his sweet demeanor - it only tends to effect territorial behaviors (such as marking). Don't worry - he'll be fine.

As for his weight - he still has some growing to do anyway. I've never had a male chunk up after a neuter. Especially if he gets that much exercise - he'll probably always be lean and muscular. It sounds like the only problem you're going to have is keeping him still and quiet until the incision heals.

I know the surgery was yesterday - how did it go?

And welcome to the forum! :D

Thanks guys

Bailey is just fine now. The first night he was completely out of it. I was worried cuz he didn't give me no kisses. But in the morning I got to his crate and his tail was waging and he gave me a bunch of kisses. He even ran up the steps in search of the kids. I love my pitty pup. Best dog I ever had, far and away he's the best. Thanks for your reply. Have a great holiday weekend Taylor, Bull Mastiff, and Augrad. Your good people. I can tell
