Does anyone have any information on weight training? Gem and Ziggy are both so energetic, even after a walk lasting a couple of hours they still want to play. We've read so much about other forum members weight training their dogs and it seems to really work. So how do you go about it, how often can you do it? What sort of weights do you use and how heavy can you make it? Ziggy's only six months old, is he too young?
What benefits do the dogs get out of it? They wont end up musclebound will they?

Sorry for so many questions but we realy don't know. Thanks in advance.

I don't know too much about it, but I know you should only start at two years of age. You have to wait for your dogs to stop growing or else it will ruin their skeletal system.

Six months is way too young to do weight training. But you can get them used to wearing the harness around and just dragging around a very light chain. It gets them use to wearing the harness and dragging something around. I think 1 year old is safe to do some light weight pulling. I started my Loki with a 15lb sled and a tire. I know this woman who makes awesome harnesses for great prices. She also sells the sleds and other equipment. I'll have to look up her website.

Forgive the purple, it was a loaner. She has her own black one now with her name on it that that woman made. But this shows the general setup.
