What do I need from the breeder before I buy?

Hi,

I have the parent's papers and the pups will be sent too, but what else do I need to ensure I'm buying from a quality breeder? I don't have the signed contract yet, but I will have that shortly. Is there paperwork that should be sent from the OFA and other health testing?

I don't know if I'm allowed to ask this next question, so if I'm not, please ignore it! Has anyone bought a pup from or heard anything (good or bad) about StarrCreek Kennels out of Georgia? If you have can you please either post what you know here or PM me?

Thanks!

before I buy, I want to see pedigrees, and any proof/results of health tests that have been done on the sire and dam. A breeder can talk until they are blue in the face about the testing they have done, but without proof, they may be just blowing smoke. I chose not to trust anyone word when it comes to this, I ask for the proof, you can never be too safe, and I have run across many a breeder who will claim to do testing, but when it came down to it there was no proof to back up thier statements, or it turned out that their normal vet had done his "verson" of a test, which is not the same. I also want vet references and ask for the names of the vets/specialists who performed the testing as references.

A good breeder who is doing everything right should be more than happy to provide all of this and more to you.
