So I'm getting ready to head to bed last night at about 11:30. I let in the three fosters who have been playing outside for a while, and what do I get? Dino, covered in so much blood that at first I can't tell where it's coming from. I snapped a few pics then tried to clean him up and apply a pressure bandage, but he was having none of that, so off to the emergency vet we go! He was so bouncy for them that they couldn't stitch him up without anesthetizing him first. This meant an overnight stay! :violent1:

(Where's Beverly when you need her? The story would be so much more interesting if she were telling it.)

Anyway - here are a couple of him before I started cleaning him up. (Please excuse the filthiness of the walls and floors. We were in the dog room, and those guys are pretty lousy housekeepers!)

If you look right in front of his mouth here, that is my nice bloody hand. I was covered in it. Good thing I didn't get stopped on the way to or from the vet. I looked like I had just slaughtered someone with an axe and buried them in my basement!

And now, may I present to you.............FrankenBully!!!! Poor stupid Dino - I haven't told him yet that he gets to wear this for TWO WEEKS!

I'm assuming one of the other dogs caught him in the ear while they were playing. Dino's very bouncy and hyper and tends to piss the older dogs off a bit, so they tell him off. It's a nasty tear - tore the skin off down to cartilage. The flap of skin was still there, so they repaired it, but if the blood supply's not good enough, he may lose the tip of his ear. It hardly fazed him last night. Now he's just pissed about the bandage and collar. Poor guy - he's so humiliated.

Gotta love the collar pic. :love2: Glad it was just an ear bite.

There is a Trident commercial on TV and they are showing a picture of a woman and her dog in a picture frame. I swear it is Beverly and Growly. Maybe that is why she has not been on. They have gone to Hollywood.

Poor Dino! That pic of him in the "lampshade" is sooo cute. Glad to hear he is alright. :D I think it's funny that the first thing you thought to do is grab your camera. You really do love us! LOL

They were all my dogs.
Oh ok, I thought they were the fosters. I still woudn't let my dogs play together unsupervised though, too many things can a happen. Actually, I don't really let my dogs play together at all. They do interact, but don't play. I just find things escalate way to quickly. Especially with that little shit disturber Smooch.

I do wish your dog a speedy recovery though.

Are you going to conitnue letting them play together after this or have you decided?

They were fosters, but they have been together with me for a while - no one in this group was new. (I always refer to my fosters as my dogs - I thought you meant someone elses dogs.)

This will mean a change in playgroups, though. Every time one dog gets adopted, it changes the group dynamics, and Rusty was adopted on Sunday (YAY Rusty!!!). So I will have to do some thinking and rearranging.

Tempermentally, Dino is very stable. He's just a young bouncy puppy, and he got on the older dogs' nerves. I'm not even sure it was one of the dogs who got him. It was a shearing injury (skin pulled off the ear down to the cartilage - ouch), so it doesn't really look like a bite. But since there were three dogs out there, that is the most likely explanation.

Dino has to have another dog to play with or he will drive me nuts. Buster has never liked him, and Misha's sick of him (not to mention terrified of his bucket-head!), so I guess he will be playing with Sophie from now on - and I never ever let Sophie with another dog without my supervision. But she likes to play and has the energy to keep up with him for a while. Not bad for an 11 year-old.

Yes, Buster is mine. He started out as a foster, but that didn't last. :D

Buster and Sophie, and my bird Angel are mine.

Dino, the Munchkin, Misha, and Kaia (mama pit) are all fosters.

I did two adoptions last weekend - the Munchkin (who will go to her new home tomorrow) and Rusty - my 11 year old golden retriever whom I've been fostering for nearly 3 years! I couldn't believe it! \:D/

Thats great!!! Glad he found a forever home!

Too bad dino got hurt, but that last pic is priceless! They all seem to get the same look on their faces when they have to wear the lamp shade! I'm glad he's okay!
