Why even have this "Breeding Question " area......

7086 Views 22 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  angela doran
I have taken notice to most of the posts made under "Breeding Questions" and if you look anyone asking a question is having there heads chewed off.this area is for people to post and ask there questions and get feed back and all they get back is a bunch of lip from people who don't know them, understand them or want to understand them. Why even have this area if no one is willing to help/give advice????
I have only been on this forum for about a month and I have seen so may come to this area ,ask for advice and get chewed out.five pages later there is still no answer just a bunch of bickering going on.I thought this was an area to get help/advice but I guess I was mistaken. Why not just do with out the "Breeding questions".

People aren't going to mask their feelings about BYBs. There have been plenty of breeding questions that have been aswered with no "head chewing" involved. Any forum you go to where people actually love their dogs and the breed you will find people who are passionate when it comes to BYBs.
KOGEKI: I understand your comment but why does everyone have to jump on that person who is simply asking a question and only wants an answer. Not a bunch of criticism. Why cant people bite there tongue once and a while and just answer the question that was asked.Yes,some do get answers to there questions with out a fight or any "head chewing" but most don't get the help or advice they asked for and instead they are being critisized. If you don't like what the person is doing then don't reply, why bother starting something that is only going to get ugly.
Because, if by" head chewing" we can stop even one person from breeding who shouldn't then it's worth it. I will stand by that til the end.
If there is a problem with this section, PM root. He is the site admin and the one in charge of sections.
How are you going to stop some one from breeding with nothing but criticizing. There must be a NICER way of doing it.That is all I am saying.JUST DO IT NICER!!!!!!!!
Is there anything wrong with that??????????????
I think it is great that you want to make others aware of these issues out there but most get very aggressive, rude, ignorant and so on.Would be nice to go to this site with out all of the "Head chewing" You can make people aware of issues with out it.

I did not post this to start anything just to simply make my opinion on what i have seen.

The reason is because breeding should be about the dogs first and formost, not the people involved. Too many people get involved with breeding for their own selfish reasons rather than for the benefit of the breed as a whole. Because of this, many wonderful breeds are being ruined and since there is such a pet overpopualtion problem, this is even more reason for most people not to breed. If a person comes on a public forum openly announcing the breeding of their unproven pets for their own selfish reasons, they should expect questions. Any forum that condones or tolerates irresponsible breeding would not be a forum I would want to be part of. Speaking out against irreesponsible breeding needs to happen. How else can people become educated? What is better, educating people about the downfalls of irresponsible breeding or patting them on the back for a job well done when there are already millions of pet quality dogs being put down in shelters every year? What is more important, creating healthy, sound dogs that have the characteristics they were originally bred for or keeping everyone happy by sitting back and congratulating everyone for filling up the shelters and breeding crappy dogs? The answer is simple for me.

Breed the best to the best or don't breed at all!

Kelly, how do you think we should educate people about irresponsible breeding? Maybe you can do it for us the next time someone comes on with a breeding announcement? Please, show us how it's done.

In all honesty, shouldn't the education come BEFORE any breeding takes place? I believe so, because once someone breeds, and then comes here for assistance, it is already too late, their minds are made up, many are against abortions(human or dog) and at this point, the last thing they need is to be turned away.
Also, Kelly, do you think it will change anyone's mind by hand-holding and coddling them? I don't think it's ok to bash someone but I can honestly say that a few people on here have been "persuaded" out of breeding mutts.

It's NOT too late if we can convince that person to not to it again. Some people do learn from their mistakes, IF they want to learn that is.

LISA,First off this is what I am talking about.Your comment comes off as sarcasm.I am not here to start any type of fight I was SIMPLY ASKING A SIMPLE Question but as I see some are taking it the wrong way, nothing unusual about that.
I will honestly answer your question that you had asked above. You asked how I would go about educating people.I myself would give them links to web sites to educate them,Give them titles of books to educate them,PM them to educate them,or simply reply back with out the hostility.Your second comment,I would love to answer questions but I am not able to do so as I have never or will never be involved in breeding.I myself am like a good portion of those of you out there who agrees people should be educated but have you read some of the remarks made to people.I am simply saying that people are being to harsh. You have to talk to them like you would a child, calmly because if you are harsh they are not seeing or getting it.That is all I am saying.GOOD for you and myself and all of the others out there who want to make people aware of certain issues going on but it can be done with out the hostility.

A majority of these "hostility" problems comes from people misinterpreting things. You can not read emotion through a computer screen, and you're not there to have a face to face conversation with that person.

Of course, education should come before breeding. BUT most people who come on here and ask breeding questions are asking things like "I want to breed my AB to my friends pit bull. What do y'all think?" If someone comes on and asks an intelligent, thought out question, it gets answered. If, like you say, someone comes on to ask a question and has already made up their mind to breed....well, to me that kind of answers itself. Why would you decide to breed if you don't know all you can about it FIRST. Get a mentor, buy a book, visit the local shelters overrun with dogs who end up leaving in the dumpster because someone, somewhere wanted to breed their dog.
You know what guys,This is turning into something that I so didn't want it turned into or I just didn't see it turning into such an issue.I should of taken my own advice and bit my tongue and never had said anything at all.If I could kick myself in the ass I would.Sorry to have started something that should have never been.

I AM LETTING IT GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AGAIN,SORRY

You beat me to it. The people who are the ones who ask the questions after breeding their pet are usually the ones who get defensive when someone here gives their opinion. Hostility feeds hostility.
I didn't read through the whole thread. I think what Kelly is asking is for everyone to be a little nicer with less sarcastic remarks.

I've been bashed on before, but people have less regards for other peoples feeling online. Sometimes people get carried away A sweet lady in real life can turns into a keyboard comando online. A lot of times i have to think for 30 minutes before replying to a question or a thread. Restrain myself from becoming a keyboard commando and hurting others.

Someone does something bad..

1 do you yell at him or her and
give them a sarcastic remark which in turns hurt their feelings and make them hate you? or

2 talk to them and kindly let them know that it's wrong , answer all their questions and have them look up to you?

Me I like number option 2
I know for a fact we turned 2 people off from breeeding by coming across the same way we do to everyone. The one person is Dusty Rose (Haven't see him for a while hope hes okay, I miss pictures!) And I can't remember the other person off the top of my head
