caught this 175 lb. boarhog lastnight.bayed by my catahoula booty and caught by my friends dogo and my curdog luger.we released him for another time...rs

No I definitely think trapping is cruel and inhumane as well. I am for the most part against hunting, but I understand that in some areas in needs to be done for population control. That being said, I think a bullet between the eyes is much more humane than a hog being chased down and "held" by a pack of dogs until the owner can come "humanely" stab it... I don't think stabbing is at ALL humane.kogeki said:The hogs are either shot or stabbed and killed humanely. The dogs don't kill them, they catch and hold them until the hunter gets there to do what he is going to do. And if they aren't killed they are relocated. And whether the hogs are a nuisance or not is irrelevant to me. There are much more humane ways to get rid of them than THAT!
So are you against hunting in general or is it just because the dogs are holding the poor piggy? Would you prefer some form of a trap like a bear trap? Now I think that is inhumane.
I hate to say this but you are very wrong. When you have a large knife, the hog is held down in place, you can accurately stab the hog in a spot that will kill it instantly. When you shoot a hog, you can easily miss its vitals. A bullet is small and you are shooting from far away. When you stab a hog it is killed quicker. I have not hunted hogs myself, yet, but I have watched plenty of videos. The hogs that were shot ran around for a bit, flopped around then died. The hogs that were stabbed seemed to die almost instantly. I know it seems "barbaric" but it is better for the hog IMO, the dogs, and the hunters. You dont have a hog with big cutters running around after being shot trying to take out anything in its path.I don't think stabbing is at ALL humane.
You do NOT hate to say it!!! You love to say it! :lol:kogeki said:I hate to say this but you are very wrong.I don't think stabbing is at ALL humane.
Well, my suggestion would be for you to wait until it dies naturally from old age... :lol:crackerbull said:lizzie how are we supposed to kill it?we need it to die before we can process it for eating.if you knew anything about wild hogs and florida hunting laws, property owner rights you wouldnt be talking all that bologna.and think about dogs in general-they are natural born hunters.they still have the instincts inherited from the wolf to hunt game and catch game to survive..im done with you !!!!...rs
Huh? I don't walk my dog offleash. I also clean up after him when we go for walks...I don't do anything illegal with my dogs. WTF are you talking about?PeterC said:Funny thing is Lizzie.........what you do like walking your dog off leash is illegal.
What crackerbull does, hunting pigs that destroy thousands of acre each year, is perfectly legal and needed.
I don't get it... if I don't like boar-hunting then I shouldn't have a bulldog? That makes no sense at all. Even if I did like boar-hunting, there are no boars where I live. Should none of us here in my state have bulldogs since we can't provide them with boars to hunt???PeterC said:Perhaps, a bulldog is not a dog for you. A nice lab.
I second that. Don't look at the pics if you don't like it and Cracker, keep em comin. I wish I had my own to show, lol.wrknrott said:For those who don't care to see photos of dogs doing catch work... my suggestion would be to stay out of threads that pertain to hunting?
So can I see some more pics now? Please?
 Of course not. I did not bash the person... I simply expressed my distaste for the "sport", for lack of a better word. I did not bash anyone who was asking a question they needed an answer to... I merely shared my opinion on animal cruelty.tonecapone said:lizzie do you come in these forums just to bash people,?people post pics that they are proud off, and ask question that they need answers to. all of your response niether compliment someone pic, nor do they answer any questions. y even post ? NICE PICS !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats why this was posted under the Working Dogs section.Warrior Princess said:I agree with you Lizzie. It was gross. lol lol
Besides, you can't blame her for thinking its gross. Most folks post cute cuddly pics of their dogs. Its rare to see dogs handling a greasy wild boar.
Didn't the hunt in the title kind of give you a hint as to what may be in the post?I was expecting to see photos of dogs pulling weights and working agility weave poles
Seeing as normally posts on this forum with titles like "Vicious Dogs Maul Alligator -- Graphic pics!" only contain a litter of cute puppies tugging on a stuffed toy... no the title didn't give me a hint.kogeki said:Didn't the hunt in the title kind of give you a hint as to what may be in the post?I was expecting to see photos of dogs pulling weights and working agility weave poles
