I'M CONSIDERING STUDDING MY MALE OUT AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE ANYONE CAN OFFER. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR UR ADVICE/HELP.
It would be "okay" for you to breed when the shelters and pounds and Humane Societies are EMPTY.tommar24365 said:Would it be okay for me to breed if I started showing her and she won the pretty preety ribbons and all the shiny shiny trophies?

Even then, I wouldn't be real excited about you or anyone getting to work filling them up again.
A good portion of the overpopulation of dogs in these places were "produced" by "hobby breeders." That very term horrifies me.
Before you take this on, I suggest you look at it from all ethical angles. That is the grown-up, responsible way to approach this.
Schedule a day to tour a couple of shelters and speak with their directors. Have them show you their numbers, their budgets, their euthanasia room. Then decide if you want to contribute to the solution or contribute to the problem. A true dog lover will follow their conscience or be haunted by it.
Let us know how your shelter visit goes, and when you get your male neutered! Good luck........and kudos to you for coming here for advice.
Where did I ever tell a breeder to adopt?Towmater said:Griz you are right and i not being mean but unfortunately this is the breeding discussion therefore we discuss breeding and there issues you won't get far telling a breeder to adopt that is why the forum deticated an entire section to adoption and rescue
We can't just eliminate a forum from the board because some people disagree with it. When are ya'll gonna learn that different strokes for different folks...doesn't make one right and one wrong, it's never going to change. We need to state our opinions, courteously, offer our suggestions and stop acting like "our" view is right and "their" view is wrong...it's just a big cycle, going round and round....every time a breeding question pops up.Leeann.Bella.Remy said:I think this forum would be better off without a breeding section. Maybe leave up a couple of stickies on the breeder's code of ethics and some other resources to point a potential breeders to, but not a whole forum where not much ever gets accomplished other than people making each other mad.
Yeah, lets get rid of it so there's one less place to gain knowledge and get an education, so they'll just go out and do it without asking questions. Heck, we might as well eliminate it, you all chase them away instantly anyway. Doing a great job!Grizwald said:Where did I ever tell a breeder to adopt?Towmater said:Griz you are right and i not being mean but unfortunately this is the breeding discussion therefore we discuss breeding and there issues you won't get far telling a breeder to adopt that is why the forum deticated an entire section to adoption and rescue
I agree, the breeding section should be entirely eliminated from the BDB altogether. Look at the roasting most people thinking of breeding get when they ask questions. Seems counter-intuitive to having a breeding section.
I'm not suggesting eliminating a forum because some people disagree with it. I'm suggesting eliminating it because it is not beneficial, causes nothing but arguments, and encourages irrsponsible breeding. Does this forum support backyard breeding? I'm coming to think that it does....BanterBull said:We can't just eliminate a forum from the board because some people disagree with it. Not too many people support it, but everyone has a different definition of it. We acknowledge that it happens and try to educate people. We can't avoid topics just because we may disagree with them. But, that doesn't mean we have to immediately bash people BECAUSE we disagree with them.Leeann.Bella.Remy said:I'm not suggesting eliminating a forum because some people disagree with it. Why don't we have a "fighting dogs" section, then? Seems like we DO avoid certain topics because we disagree with them...BanterBull said:Not too many people support it, but everyone has a different definition of it. Well..first of all...because dog fighting is ILLEGAL and breeding is LEGAL....that's a start....Leeann.Bella.Remy said:Why don't we have a "fighting dogs" section, then? That is a ridiculous comparison.
Ok, good luck. It was nice having you during your time here. But, we understand that you have your opinions, and you're entitled to that. Enjoy your other forum. Sorry we're starting to disgust you. :thumbleft:Leeann.Bella.Remy said:Ok - I'm done with this. I'm a member of another pit bull forum that doesn't have a breeding section and doesn't allow any talking about breeding. I'm just going to stick with that forum. I like the rescue based forums better anyway. This one is starting to disgust me.
I agree, people like Leeann are needed here.Kasco said:Leeann, I'd hate to see you leave here. You know how most of us feel about BYB. There will always be a few who argue for it. I hope you reconsider.
