How much exercise does your dog get/day?

My puppy is about 9/10 weeks and is full of energy - he loves to run around, but there's only so much room in my condo; I also live in SC so we don't go outside for an extended period of time (i.e. longer than 10 mins) until about 5/6 at night when it's not quite as hot.

He'll roll around on the floor chewing his toys for about 30 minutes happy as can be - does this count as "exercise". How much/what type of exercise should he be getting. He won't walk on a leash yet (he's learning...he'll walk VERY short distances) so taking him on a little walk isn't much of an option. Just want to make sure this guy stays nice and healthy!

I have read several of your posts and I must say that you really worry way too much. Stop analyzing everything and just enjoy your puppy. They really shouldn't be so fragile that we need to worry about every little move we make or don't make with them. Go with the flow and try to stop being so paranoid. Some of the things you ask about have been asked many times over, go back and read some of the old threads. You will probably learn a lot and save people from having to re hash the most basic things over and over.

Sorry - I'm not intentionally overlooking other posts. I looked over the first page and didn't see anything.

Yeah, I may be slightly paranoid but it's my first week with him and Bulldogs aren't exactly the "easiest" dogs. I'm trying to be fully informed in all areas - because obviously some information I read before getting him/have been told is not the popular practice.

Cooper and Scarlett both enjoyed playing fetch when they were puppies (they still love it now too..) Scarlett is in love with tennis balls and will fetch them for hours, Cooper loves to play fetch with sticks. That's how I tire them out inside or outside.

You can take him for short walks/play time outside... make it fun and he'll enjoy it more. Bring treats with you, maybe a squeaky toy to get his attention and keep him moving. He'll get the hang of it soon :)

Puppies really shouldn't exercise, just let them do normal puppy play. Only short walks around the block.
Oh before I even joined this forum, I read threw all of the forum even back to post one here. I learned everything, yes it took a long time but I'm glad I did.

+1
I am a recovering worry wort! I was a nervous wreck the first week I brought Lucy home. I've learned to sit back and observe Lucy. Now I'm learning how much play time is enough for her and when she should be in the crate. I can tell when she's had enough. Lucy get's about 30 minutes on average through out the day when she comes out of the crate. We try to keep her out of the crate at night for at least 2 hours before her bedtime. This allows me a better nights sleep.

I also live in an apartment and space is tight. And it is way too hot in MS to play outside. Darbee is 13 wks old and loves to play fetch and with her toys. We just get in the floor with ours and play. Duncan will chase my husband around the apartment. (its hilarious) I don't know if it "counts" as exercise, but it sure wears them out.
